The Next Layer

Today’s drawing of Mary Magdalene

I’m painting a new Mary Magdalene in earth colors, from one of the drawings from this blog that a friend liked for the cover of her book. Earth colors are like an embrace. They are comforting and quiet, far from the loud passion of red. In this new painting the veil is simply the white light of her aura. It’s an oil painting, and it’s been drying for 3 days now.

At first I tried to paint a small painting, but it just wasn’t working.

Then I started a new larger canvas, and it worked so much better.

I had already learned some things by painting small. But it all didn’t fit in that small frame.

I am ready to paint the next layers. And that last layer that glows with little bit of magic.
