Reset at the Museum

Progress may not be noticeable, but this painting has an extra 4 hours of work from the last version I posted here. It’s a slow process to finish a painting. I only worked on the face, the foot, the hand and the hair. Now it needs to dry again before painting another layer.
The last month of the year is here. It’s been a long year of work, thinking, dreaming and hoping. I have been working on rebuilding the bases of my art practice. It’s a process that becomes frustrating sometimes because I never have enough time to work fluidly. Also, when I can’t work, I have the urge to work, so it feels as if I never stop. Yesterday, I needed something different, so I decided to take a break and go to the Met Museum.
Here is the beautiful Christmas Tree at the Met:

It was really nice to just sit by the tree and listen to the music that complimented the tree. There was also a sensation of insense, but I’m not sure if it was synesthesia caused by the atmosphere, with the music, the dark space, the Three Kings statues and all the other Medieval art around. I felt the smell of insense completing the experience.
The good thing about museums is you can go by yourself, sit alone, and have a meditative experience surrounded by art. Sometimes we need that time and space to rest the mind and reset for a new week.
No drawing today, because I used all the time for painting. But tomorrow will be a new day.
