Our Most Sincere Prayers of the Heart

The Mary Magdalene Celebration is fast approaching. I’m possibly going to regret drawing, writing and painting each evening, but since the point is celebrating life, not stopping it, I continue doing the regular things I do and focus on keeping it simple.
Ever since 2016, when I did a big celebration, the impulse to plan and over plan remained with me even though most of the celebrations have been smaller and more intimate, I always feel like I should be doing something more.
And that is not the correct way to think.
I think it’s a good idea to consider our true feelings when choosing to do something. My feeling this year has been on establishing life routines that sustain my artwork even through full time work and exhaustion. Trying to do something more and bigger that doesn’t fit with that intent does not make sense at this time. At it’s heart, the Celebration is about companionship and coming together once a year to share arts and connect. That can be done in any scale.
So this Sunday, it’s going to be intimate. I don’t know how many people will come, but whoever arrives is going to be a friend, someone connected through Mary Magdalene, cuture and the arts. We’ll cultivate beauty and joy.
On Sunday, we’ll celebrate the inspiration that Mary Magdalene has brought to our lives, and we’ll offer music, words, images and dance as our most sincere prayers of the heart.
