Flying With Angels

Today’s drawing of Mary Magdalene

These cherubs are bringing Mary Magdalene to heaven. The composition of the drawing is not great, but I like that she is relaxed on her way up. It seems to me Mary Magdalene was sleeping when the angels came for her.

According to popular legend, angels regularly lifted Mary Magdalene from the cave where she lived for 30 years in Sainte-Baume in the south of France. She was transported to Heaven seven times a day to be fed with celestial harmonies.

She is said to have died after receiving communion and her body was taken by angels into heaven.
