Butterflies and Echinacea

Today’s drawing of Mary Magdalene
Today’s drawing of Mary Magdalene

The reason why I sometimes draw or paint the Magdalene with flowers or butterflies, or both, is mostly because I like the combination, and I also like placing Mary Magdalene in contact with nature. It’s a connection to my other artwork, and maybe something I can give the Magdalene that has not been traditionally given before.

The butterfly is a symbol for the soul, and also a symbol of transformation.

These flowers were inspired by the echinacea flowers, although very loosely. The echinacea symbolizes balance and protection.

Soul

Transformation

Balance

Protection

These are the elements that help us grow, evolve, expand… and even though, as I draw, I let my mind rest and I’m not consciously thinking of these things, these are wishes or whispers within me, for myself, and for you.
