A Dream

Sometimes, it’s time for dreaming. Awake, asleep, in between. One dream controls us, another we take along to create a vision of a different reality. That kind is my favorite. I never want to dream asleep.
In this dream, Mary Magdalene is surrounded by leaves. She’s being born of the Earth, and sleeping as she transforms. We can imagine the greens of the leaves, and the earth that she is made of.
If I were to paint this painting, I would get a great canvas, transfer the drawing and start painting with all the greens, yellows and blues would create new ones. Then the face of the Magdalene would start transforming into a sacred image of the Earth. There would be reds in the background, and on her lips. Roots would grow like wrinkles, like riverbeds, like open lines cut by a plow on the land, ready to receive the seeds that will grow food and flowers.
If I could paint this Magdalene tomorrow, and could continue until finished, I would paint for a week in a blissful state, and rest dreaming of the brushstrokes that come next.
That too is a dream, a not so far dream, if I can make it real.
