Today I imagined Mary Magdalene mysterious and iconic. The lily, just a bud, still needs time to open and become a beautiful flower. There is time for each stage of the process.
Sometimes we want it all. At once. We work so hard, run so fast, that when something makes us stop, we resist the pause. There is no time.
Mary Magdalene is timeless. She is present indefinitely in the process of flowering of a life. There is no time.
Time passes and stays still. For a moment, we can live a lifetime. A lifetime can seem like a short moment.
That is the beauty of an icon. Timelessness and memory, power and fragility. Stillness until something moves inside.
