Red

Today’s drawing of Mary Magdalene

I use the color red in my paintings of Mary Magdalene as an attribute, but also a a way to assign meaning. Red, the color of passion, vibrates warmly, and sometimes violently, and must always be seen.

It’s the color that’s too bright to wear, but the Magdalene wears it without apologies.

For the Mary Magdalene Celebration, I always invite everyone to wear red. There’s a lot of red in the space, which against the black of the theater, creates a vibrant contrast.

As the day approaches, it all becomes more red. And I’m looking forward to being enveloped in the dark mystery, and the red energy.

It’s all about love.
